With Michelle’s background as an artist and graduate of RISD, Jan and Michelle expanded the farm’s offerings by designing and constructing the current Farm Market in 2005, and the new Barn, now completed, in 2010.
The Barn, available for gatherings and events, features Women’s and Men’s wheelchair-accessible bathrooms.
Its centerpiece is a fieldstone fireplace, built with stone recycled from the demolition of the original farmhouse on the site, home to the original generation of farmers.
Michelle’s mosaics, featured in juried exhibitions, are on display in the Farm Market and can also be seen by clicking here.
Theodore H. “Ted” Eckhart, father of Sweet Berry Farm co-owner Jan Eckhart and his five siblings, passed away in his 100th year on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, riding his tractor to the end. Sweet Berry Farm and the Eckhart family wish to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support. Miss You, Ted!
Our beloved Farm dog Rex died peacefully on his own Tuesday, November 2, 2010, around 6pm. We’re very sad but thankful at the same time for all the wonderful years we’ve been blessed with him. I heard this dog breathe before he exited the birth canal and heard his last breaths as he passed. Thank you to all who have shown him love throughout his happy years. — Michelle Eckhart
